Chainsets
Probably a stupid question but I'm looking into building up a road bike and attempting to spec a suitable chainset.
I've more or less settled on Sram but have noticed the Rival has a GXP and the Force has a BB30, which also appears to be lighter.
Firstly, what does this actually mean (I'm assuming its referring to the BB design)?
Are both an external bearing cup design like with the hollwtechs on mountain bikes?
And lastly, if I went with the GXP would this allow me to upgrade to a BB30 by just purchasing an upgraded BB?
Many thanks from someone who is new to the road side!

Thanks Batch79 (like your picture!) that all makes sense.
Would I be correct in thinking new frames made now would be capable of taking this type of BB - I'm particularly thinking of a Ribble Sportive Racing frame?
Thanks again,0 -
There's no spec on the Ribble website - but checking with the Pedalforce RS2 (same frame) its a standard English threaded 68mm BB shell. You can still use a Force crank, just not the BB30 versionMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
