I have just bought an 07 whyte 19 frame, it recommends a 120mm fork. I only have a 100mm fork! Would this ruin the bike geometry or could it take the 100mm without to much change?

a 100mm fork will be fine, but the steering will be a little quicker, and your weight slightly more forwards than it would be with a 120mm fork.

Of course, the real difference is the axle to crown height, not the travel. You could get a 100mm travel fork which is just as long as a 120mm fork.
