Chain slipping during shifting

Can anybody give me a bit of advice. When I am changing in the middle of the cassette the chain keeps skipping. Its just not quite rightly indexed. Can I fix this with one of the Thumbscrews on the frame or do I have to start again and index the whole lot of it. Its a Durace cassette with Ultegra SL rear mech.
Thanks

Chain skipping is more a symptom of a worn chain or cassette - or new chain on a worn cassetteMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Skipping is when the chain jumps forward over the sprocket teeth under load. Very common with a new chain on a worn cassette.
Since your cassette and chain have worn together for just a year this is unlikely. I suspect from your description that you're right, and the indexing is slightly out which means the chain is catching on the cogs of an adjacent sprocket. Just needs a tweak using the barrel adjuster on the downtube.
Thumbscrews are, I believe, illegal these days.0
