A guy at work is selling a pair of the 1998 Shamals, as used by one Marco Pantani, and at £50 I'm very tempted.
I assume these won't have a 10sp freehub body and was wondering if any of you lot can direct me to a 10sp Campag freehub body I could fit to them?
Thanks!

Be careful, if they are the older Shamals, then they will be 8 speed only and cannot be converted to 10 speed.0 -
I did wonder about that.
He swears they're 9spd, so I'm happy enough with that. Worst comes to worst I'm sure I can get more than £50 for them on E-Bay."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Especially if they were used by Marco Pantani!
Bearing in mind the slightly undulating nature of your local terrain, make sure the braking surface isn't too far worn!0 -

Another good point. As they're tubs I'm assuming that the braking surface is less likely to pose problems, although I will be checking it for signs of imminent collapse!"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

FWIW Pantani didn't Shamals much in 1998 - he was mainly riding a pair of Electrons, but may have used a pair in the TTs. If they are 1998 model year they will be 9 speed.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Right, I have the wheels in my possession now, and very nice they are too. Definitely 9 speed as they have a 9 speed cassette on them!
DO I need a new freehub body or will my 10sp cassette fit that?"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

10 sp will fit straight on. 8 is the only awkward one. You will even be able to go to 11. If you have an 11 tooth sprocket n your 10 sp you'll need an 11 tooth compatable lockring.Greetings from the wet and windy North west0
