To all Canyon owners.
How's the sizing guys?
Seems thier "PPS" is missing some of that German accuracy.
I'm 6' 1' an half with a 34' inseam, so I'm thinking a 58 should be about right.
Whaddaya say
Cheers

I'm pretty much the same height and same inseam as you and i'm riding a 56cm Canyon. The PPS put me pretty much between 56cm and 58cm. I'm right on the limit of the seatpost but i feel plenty stretched out up top although i'm not the most flexible person.
I have to say i prefer a smaller, compact frame so i went for the 56cm. I also spent alot of time comparing the measurements of my current bike and it all pointed to a 56cm Canyon. I'd suggest doing this as you don't want to get it wrong.
The other bike i ride is a 57cm with a 120mm stem (which is probably 1cm too long for me). The Canyon came with a shorter stem but i'm using the newer style Campag levers on the Canyon compared to the older style ones which are shorter. So it all balanced out right.
In general i'd say 56cm if you're not very bendy, 58cm if you are. The PPS should put you at a 56cm right? Slide the inseam notch up 1 and you'll be at 58cm. It's a bugger.0 -
At 6'1 would think that the 56 cm frame would give you a pretty short top tube ? The 56cm has a TT of 55.4 and for the 58 frame it is 56.5. I am 6'2' and have a 58cm SL2 with a 58.2 top tube and 20.5 head tube, which for the Canyon puts me between the 60 and 62 cm frames. Just built up a Canyon 62 cm frame for shxts and giggles which has a 58.9 cm TT and a 20.0 head tube. Was going to ride it last weekend but it was too wet, so will try again this weekend.0

Thanks.
See here it is, atm I ride a P-X Pro carbon Large an I had to put a shim in so I could use a longer post in order to get full leg extension. With the P-X's supplied post (350mm) I was at the max mark, which also gave me a big saddle to bar drop measurement, looked racy but was not comfartable.
So I'm leaning toward the 58...?Finished0 -
Sorry to throw a spanner in the works, but I'm a Canyon Ultimate CF SLX rider. 189cm (6'1 and a bit) and a 36 inch inseam. The 60cm Canyon fits me perfectly - even with my poor flexibility the stock 11cm stem is just right too because of the shorter top tube. Where are you based? Could give you a quick go if you want to try it.0

As "Mccaria" already mentioned, the top tube of Canyon Ultimate is relatively short. That's good to bear in mind when choosing the size. A 60 cm Canyon corresponds a 58 cm frame of more "standard" geometry.
For you, probably both 56 and 58 are possible. However, the Ritchey carbon seatpost is quite short, so with 56 there is a risk of having to buy a longer seatpost. I would probably buy the 58 cm frame.
BTW: I also upraded from a PX Pro Carbon, size XL. I'm 191cm tall with 92cm inseam (i.e. I have long legs & short torso). I chose a 60cm frame and it's spot on. In PX, I had to change the seatpost to a zero-setback one and shorten stem to 90mm.0 -
And another one !!
I'm just under 6ft with a 34" inseam.
I went from a Large PX SL Pro, to a 56cm Canyon UL CF and it fits spot on.
As Mike said, On the Canyon PPS if i went up a notch on the inseam it said i needed a 58cm. Best to go smaller.
But i think in your case a 58cm might be best.A Brother of the Wheel. http://www.boxfordbikeclub.co.uk

Seems like i'm a bit abnormal in the way i measure up to a Canyon frame. 58cm seems like the safest option.
Just to clarify my measurements- Height: 6' 3/4" (185.5cm); Inseam: 35" (88.9cm)0 -
Many thanks fellas.
All input duly noted.
Now where's my credit card?!

Another thing I been pondering, how do they-Canyon- set the brakes up?
i.e. right side for rear etc.
It,s a little worrying that I've mailed them twice now without a response!
But then again with bikes as good as theirs I'm not ready to give up yetFinished0 -
It's just the European setting of brake location. Over here it's usually the other way around.0

I know that! How do Canyon set things up?Finished0

If you go to the Canyon website then go to Service and then go to Downloads, they have English language versions of the manuals for road and mountain bikes. Their download manuals are pretty comprehensive.
Most salient to your question - Canyon normally set up bikes with the left brake lever operating the front brake. In section 2 Before Your First Ride0
