Hi, why doesn't the front wheel of the Trek 1.5 pop out once I use the quick release? The back wheel seems to be fine.

Spring of the forks....This is a good thing, you don't want it coming out while riding.

You need to unwind the thread of the q/r skewer a few turns until you can prise apart the fork slightly or lift it straight out.

'tisn't the 'spring of the forks', whatever that might be, it's the lips on the dropouts which manufacturers now insist on in order to avoid the attention of enthusiastic American lawyers.

Just unwind the QR a bit more and j j j jiggle it Granville.
  • if it's the lip then why can I easily take out the back wheel?

Yep, affectionately known as "lawyer tabs" or "lawyer lips" http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_l.html

Cos your back wheel wouldn't fall out of the dropouts if the QR failed and you popped a wheelie.

File the front ones off if they are annoying you.

(disclaimer: advice does not apply to carbon dropouts)
