Is it so damn hard to choose a bike?

Due to me splitting up with, my now ex, and having to move house pronto.

I had to sell my Cove Handjob frame and the goodies I had bought, to semi fund said house move.

I have £1300 to spend now on a new(ish) beast, not going to waste my time on a self build, too much hassle and not enough time any more.

I cannot keep myself from looking at the XTC Alliance 0 2009 from Paul's, decent spec and she just looks dreamy.

What's your thoughts on this http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m1b4s2p2292

I am 6' 3" and will be riding XC, mainly, but in 2012 will be, hopefully, doing the transrockies challenge and the cape epic for chariday.

The choice of bikes are nigh on endless, somebody help me make my mind up cos, quite clearly my pea sized brain is having trouble computing the choices out there.

Starting again!!!!

the only advice i can give is if youre spending more than £1000 on a bike , i'd wanna see it in the flesh first.
best get touring your local bike shops.
the giant is a nice spec for the money tho.

There are a lot of nice bikes in that price range. Having been through it recently, I don't envy your task. Whatever you end up with will be good and your decision will be solely down to what will best suit your intended use.

Spec and value at this price range is amazing.
