Cable maintenance
Every time I go out for a ride I have to adjust my right gear cable, the one on the cassette. Just a twist or two but I was wondering if this is quite normal and just down to the cable lengthening.
Also wondering if there is any regular maintenance I should be doing to all my cables?

After a couple of weeks of regular riding they should settle down. When they wear out, it's down to the liner in the outer wearing through, at which point you will be repeatedly fiddling with the barrel adjuster. That's the point at which you'll need to replace the outers.
I do the ones on my road bike about once a year (about 6000 miles). Doesn't take long.- - - - - - - - - -

I've the bike about 8 months and done around 2000 miles. I have to tighten the cable on every ride or I have problems shifting down. It doesn't bother me too much but want to make sure I'm looking after it properly.0

Check the cable clamp bolt at the rear mech is tight; I know I had something very similar on my roadie when it was new and it needed a turn or two of that bolt to sort it.0

What he said. If you're frequently adding tension, it sounds as though the cable is slipping out of the clamp.- - - - - - - - - -
