noisy DT Swiss wheels

Can anyone advise on how to deal with this. I have DT Swiss RR1450 wheels - nice wheels at about £700 a pair.
The rear wheel is incredibly noisy when climbing or riding hard. This is not just "a bit irritating" noisy, but "people turning to stare" noisy.
I had thought it was the spokes rubbing against each other and sent the wheel back to Madison who returned it saying nothing was wrong.
I now think it may be the freehub which seems to be being "notched" by my Ultegra cassette, maybe the noise is being caused by the wear in the notches?
The wheel has probably done about 3,000 miles which doesn't seem a lot for that money.
Any advice gratefully received.
