always fancied the aquafade and harlequin yo eddy's since first seeing them in MBUK many moons ago.

the actual one i lusted after in that magazine as a school kid is the one i have now, well frameset wise anyway......dave hemmings no less.

i actually bought the frame without knowing about its past owners, so i have went ahead with my original plan for the bike, a single speed bike to use around the local trails and cycleways.

i will in the future, think about doing a full hemming rebuild, but for now im happy as it is.

as it was......

wanted some decent retro parts on board, like ringle zooka stem, pauls components brakes etc.......it has modern tires and wheels, the main reason is to not get some nice retro wheels at the minute and clock up wastefull miles on them,

i also as you can see, using the BOI (big one inch) fork for now too.

Love it, cool as f***. Paintjob is fab and reminds me of old Kleins

How about getting the seatpost, cranks & chainring anodised green/blue much like the MBUK shots?

How did you come by it?

it came up on e-bay this year in mexico of all places, a member on retrobike bought it, and i forgot all about it.

i stuck a wanted ad up, as i always fancied a yo, and the guy who bought it had never touched it, so sold it on to me.

it cost a few quid.......around £1,300 so far, but mint examples often do, i never realised it was hemmings old frame until afterwards though.

Loving the Yo Eddy. Always wanted one as a kid but could never have afforded it.

Where did the wheels come from? I'm looking for a set for my old bike that i'm re-furbishing and like the look of those.

the wheels were a random set that popped up that i liked the look of on the retrobike classified sections. they were pretty heap too.

Those Cook Bros cranks are the shit :D A mate of mine had those in anodised purple on his Stumpjumper in the early 90's.

    Very nice :D

i'm not sure i'd be riding it in anger tbh, it's so nice and different, it warrants just being left to look good. 8)

That looks amazing, I love the paint, and you've done a great job getting it to look that good :) Almost looks too good to ride.. almost

Slightly different note, would anybody know what the original wheels in the first pics were (with Hemming riding)? I quite like the look of the spoke layout..

it has a snowflake front wheel, and ringle hub. no idea on the rim or whats on the rear.

when hemming had it, it seemed to have a random mix match of parts.

Great bike, but the purists on retrobike will lynch you!

And a Yo Eddy single speed? So so wrong (even as beautiful as it is).

I've still got a snowflake built front wheel (Mavic 117 I think, on XT hub) in the shed. Along with the other bits (although not a frame in this league), I should really get off my a*se and work on a retro-build. MMmm.... XT thumbies....!

i should be out riding this bike, or sourcing original parts to get the hemming spec, but i just dont have the time on my hands.

even thought about selling it, despite me only doing a few laps of the garden :?
