Mavic Ksyrium Elite Rim Tape??

I have just bought some Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels as an upgrade and I was wondering if i need to buy rim tape for them.
I thought rim tape was used to protect the inner tube from the heads of the spokes but on these rims nothing is visible inside the rim walls, it is very smooth.
Please let me know before I add the tyres and tubes ready for fitting.

No rim tapes required - just stick some tyres and tubes on them and get out and enjoy them0
