I've got a 135mm QR EX1750 rear wheel (DT240 hub?) that I want to convert to 12mm for use with my Maxle. CRC sell the conversion kit which includes end caps & an axle.

Question is, do I need the axle and if not can the end caps be bought separately?
Cheers. :)

  • Yes, you need the 'axle' and the caps. The Maxle goes through the 'axle' which is inside the hub and keeps the bearings in place. It should work, but keep your receipt just in case.

Have a look here for more info:

Cheers Tank - do I know you from 'another place'? :)

I've had one of my QR end caps off and the internal diameter of the fitted axle appears to be 12mm but my Maxle doesn't quite go in. The threads on the end do, but no more.

I've had a look at the tech pdf's from DT Swiss site and the part number for the axle on the 240 135xQR, 135x10mm & 135x12mm is the same.

£40 odd quid is quite a lot to punt at it only to find it's the same part
Are you speaking from personal experience?

If the axle in the 12mm kit itself does have a bigger internel diameter then the axle wall would have to be thinner as it still has to fit within the cartridge bearings... :?
