Just spied the Saracen Mantra, seems fairly priced and looks to have a slightly better spec than some of the other contenders in the price range.
Can only find a review for the kids version on this site??

Hi Alex, you can find better for your £400 if you shop around...
Example here if you need a 17 or 19" frame...it has a better fork, better groupset and brakes, and better finishing kit..so better by a country mile really !

Showed this to a friend who instantly said No as soon as they saw the fork. :?0 -
And why was that? Because it was an RST? It is a one of the better forks you will find at this price point as is the PRO version with hydrauilic rebound damping. And is a lot better than the fork on that 400 quid Mantra.0

i cant comment on the new one, but i had an 07 mantra 1, and i really liked the frame (until about a week ago, that was the only standard part from the origional saracen spec, i just upgraded everything else)0

Couldn't agree more !! it's a way better fork.....the Be One is far better value.0 -
+1 for the BeOne
And in the same lines you can get the Focus Northern Lite Expert 2010 for £400.
Forget the Mantra with the low end drivetrain, disc brakes, fork.
And if you can stretch your budget for about £50 then I wouldn't look at anything else:

My specialized had the same fork as the Saracen & it is terrible. My xct fork gets used to prop open my shep door & thats about all it's good for!Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
