Straight-forward assistance, please..

as titled - left hand ST-6510 flight deck shifter. Not use flight deck function via computer and just mechanical lever action.
Would like to know whether the flat electrical cable can be cut due this has folded and effected function of lever..
Any suggestion here as I wondered if it keeps the mechanism tight (semi encassed).

thanks

  • Rip it out...serves no other purpose other than if you use a computer which no one has, yet somehow it goes some way in justifying why the pieces of rubbish that STI levers are cost £200 per pair.

Both my road bikes have them, can't understand why they're not more popular.

I bought a 2nd-hand pair of levers where the previous owner had cut the cable rather untidily, you could feel it through the hood.
I folded the hood fully back and snipped it off flush with the mechanism.

There should be a little black plastic blanking plate to seal the hole.

thanks fellas .. good advise for re-using this 2nd hand shifter. I've snipped back and tidied up - all sorted
