Thinking of buying one of these computers.
Can I buy the basic unit itself and use my current Polar heart rate monitor? Will it work or do I have to buy the Garmin bundle version and their heart rate strap?

My Garmin 500 dropped thro the post box yesterday!
When initialising it the unit scrolls through the various options and asks if it needs to listen out for the cadence sensor, power meter and of course HRM, each time asking if you have an ANT+ version of each
Is the Polar ANT+?
If not then deffo not

Polar is not ant+ compatible.0

ANT+ is a general wireless protocol that power meters happen to work with

The Garmin 500 uses the same protocol for its HRM and cadence sensors as i described
