Anyone suffer from this disconcerting syndrome?

Google search throws up lot of sufferers. Unfortunately I to am now a sufferer.

This is a bit more to this story which I will add later. Let me just say I'm not impressed with a major online retailer and their customer service. :x

    Try greasing the skewer/fork interface?

Isn't anything to with body of the skewer.

There is a pin that holds the plastic handle to the skewer body and it is this that had come loose. Sounds like shopping trolley with a dodgy wheel.

on my Mavic skewers, to stop them rattling i just put a tiny blob of araldite glue between the plastic handle and the metal inner and that stopped it rattling, lateron i replaced them with Planet
X titanium skewers as the Mavics are pretty heavy in comparison.

I suffer too. Not cool. I might try and pack some grease/glue in there. But it's getting very tempting to buy some different ones.
  • I spent £600 on a pair of Mavic hoops only to find the front qr rattles - not very impressed!! At first I wrapped a small piece of tape around the qr and the fork. That worked but looked naff so now I just put up with the rattle. I'm considering buying a new pair of qr's. Not good though is it!

Just fit some ordinary Shimano or Campagnolo QR's. They are far the best. If you've been cycling for long you probably have some, forgotten somewhere.

That so many manufacturers in cycling cannot make such a straightforward thing as a cam-action lever properly (especially with a good out-of-patent design to copy), should be an embarrassment to them: it is certainly a depressing reflection of the state of the industry, to me.

Well I paid a lot for a set of Mavic hoops and was not impressed to find the front rattling like a broken shopping trolley wheel.

My thoughts were these are a £1000+ set of wheels and having a a skewer rattling away is unacceptable. The skewer isn't designed to be loose as it is. The rear is fine.

I have emailed the online retailer about this and asked for it to be swapped out. Their response has been for me to go to another online retailer and buy a replacement as they don't deal direct with Mavic or I can wait for another set of wheels to be returned to them and have a skewer from these. When that will be is pie in the sky.

I've cut my losses and bought an aftermarket pair from Ebay for nearly half the price of the cost of one Mavic skewer.

I am unreasonable that I find a rattling skewer is unacceptable.? My bike used to glide along with only the sound of the tires on tarmac and the chain purring. I now have a bloody annoying constant rattle which seems to be made was the way it reverberates through the carbon fork and frame.

I will edit this post and name and shame later today if I get fobbed off again. Shame for them as well as I was about to buy a £1400 frame and fork tomorrow.
