Question about older bikes

I have a couple of "old" 2005 bikes with Campag 9 speed, but now campah have 10/11 speed, so if I need to replace worn out parts (say derailler) do I need to look around for older 9 speed bits, or will the new ones work fine? Or would I have to upgrade to 11 speed?
Say... That's a nice bike..

Nine speed mechs work perfectly with ten speed drive trains, I believe there are some on here using them with 11 speed systems too.

FWIW post 2002 Campagnolo rear mechs 9/10 speed have the same cable pull actuation ratio and will happily work with 10 speed IME
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

9 and 10 mechs have the same cable pull actuation as Monty says so are interchangable.

11 speed has a different cable pull actuation, but it is possible to use 10 speed mech but you need botch it with a dremel. You can also run an 11 speed mech with a 10 speed system, but need to shim it to work.

An 11 speed front mech will work with a 10 speed chainset, but not a 10 speed chain.

You can use a 10 speed chainset on a 9 speed set up. I have done this for the last two years!

You can also use a 10 speed chainset with an 11 speed setup, but need a 11 speed chain.

You can change the chainrings on a 10 speed crankset to 11 speed. Parker actually sell a 10 speed crankset with 11 speed rings!

Any other combos anyone can think of?

You are all answering the wrong question.
OP wants to know if he can use a 10-speed or 11-speed mech in a 9-speed system

All of us? There are only three answers, two about mechs and mine.

Maybe I answered wrongly to the OPs question, but I did answer the right question.

    Are you trying to say...

"All of your answers do not address the OP's question?" or something else. Either way I am happy to help.

OK, "All of your answers do not address the OP's question"

OP has a 9 speed system.
The question was: "What current parts can I use with it?"

All three answers read like they assume the OP has a 10 speed system.
You would have come closest to a straight answer if you hadn't confused the issue by going on about the interchangeability of 10 and 11 speed parts

Okay, with a 9 speed groupset you can replace the chainset and rear mech with 10 speed versions.
