Cycling through Cooling (nr Rochester, Kent) yesterday, passing Jools Holland's castle (!) when I came across a BT van parked at an odd angle in the road. Got flagged down by the driver to ask if there was an event on as he'd just had an altercation with a cyclist about rights of way across a bridge. The cyclist leaned in the window and tried to punch him, missed and then nicked the keys from the ignition and cycled away.
How very f**king clever!!! Kept an eye out for the cyclist, or someone matching his description, but no joy.
Not sure what I'd have done, but I certainly wouldn't have nicked the blokes keys - a few angry words maybe, but that really doesn't help the image of cyclists.
I know the police got called as they asked if it was me as they passed, but hope they caught up with the twat.

    2 sides to each story.

Heard of this happening a few time in central London. LFGSS has a few stories.

So next time I see a cyclist behaving like a prat, I'll knock him off his bike and while he is on the foor I'll nick his wheels and drive off ;)

there's gotta be another side to this. If the van driver has nearly killed the cyclist then i can see why he did it, it has to be something bad. If it isn't, thats a twatish thing to do! I want to hear the full story so i can mount my soapbox properly! :D

Hmmm BT van drivers are not my favourite people atm .
Last encounter was with one t***ser cutting the corner at the bottom of our steeply hilled High St which I was cornering at the time. He was driving one handed as he was talking on his sodding mobile phone.

I doubt if it was the same BT guy but ......

  • The BT driver seemed like a reasonable guy and was quite polite when speaking to me. The incident happened where a bridge goes over a small stream and the road narrows slightly, but still enough to get van and bike across.
I can understand throwing your teddies and shouting/swearing, but not STEALING the blokes keys.

I was in the area blasting around but it definitely wasn't me as (a) if I got p*ssed off enough to chuck a punch I wouldn't miss and (b) you'd have a more 'descriptive' description of the rider if it was as I'm rather 'distinctive' LOL

Also, as stated; two sides to any story + many people seem perfectly reasonable AFTER an incident!! :)
