Old Avanti needs new dérailleur hanger??

Hi, I'm looking for some advice. I'm fixing up my old bike with some new parts and have hit a bit of a wall with the rear deraiileur.
This is the new rear derailleur:

And this is the old Avanti frame: which has nearly a horizontal dropout:

I have been searching for a long time looking for a derailleur hanger on the internet but nothing looks like the one that came off the bike originally http://www.flickr.com/photos/52729336@N08/4855887014/ . It would be perfect if I could continue to use the old hanger with the new derailleur but I am unable to remove it from the old hanger.
Any advice would be awesome thanks, it saves me guessing from internet photos and buying something that won't fit properly.

It doesn't use a mech hanger, you need a different style mech like below.
