I want swap my xt m770 crank on my nomad as it flex's when pedaling hard causing the inner chainring bolts to foul my chain guide bolts and makes an annoying clunking noise.
Whats crank is stiff enough to stop this happening? But not weigh 1500g
Thinking saint m810.
Any ideas?

Saint wont flex, but lets get back to your original problem.
How much of a gap is there between the bolts when the bike is at rest?0 -
Your xt crank flexes? seriously?
Theres not many people on here that will weight more than me and my xt cranks are solid!
Haven't noticed any difference in "flex" between the Saint m810's I used to have and my current XT's.
Maybe I don't pedal hard enough0 -
There is not much clearence, maybe 2mm max after filing the heads down.
I cant feel the xt flex but it is.0 -

Atlas AM chainset?
Been using one for a good few months now. MASSIVELY strong, but not massively heavy.
If they're strong enough for Peaty to use for DH racing, I'm fairly sure they'll handle anything you or I can throw at them.
Looks like they've sorted the problem with rubbish BBs for the 2010 models too.
Oh and they look fkn superb!
(Bit on the pricey side like)0 -
Its a e13 guide and bolts are taperd headed and bolts fit flush with the guide plate the bolts on the inner ring have been filed down to give a bit more clearence, it made it better but still catches when hammering away.
Its def crank flex as the chain touches the front mech in some gears when pedaling hard.0 -

15.5 stone, bout 16 with ride gear.0

could it be frame flex instead of crank flex, my ols Kona (steel) flexes enough to rub the chain on the front mech.FCN 120

Are you sure it's the cranks that are flexing and not the BB area of your frame?
The chain rubbing the front mech usually points to frame flex - it was pretty common on flexy steel framed bikes.0 -
Supose it could be but exactly the same chain-mech contact on mates trek remedy, my old yeti 575 and now nomad all with xt's.0
-
Also the chain guide tabs are on the bb shell so that rules out the frame.0

I reckon you should work on yoru peddaling technique Rich, be smoother rather than hammering the pedals.4 wheels bad
2 wheels good
1 wheel for fun0 -
Ye ill show ya pedal technique dutch... on your forehead lol.
It does it when standing and climbing even pedaling slow and smoothly, even tried nipping load cap up until bearings were draging but still the same.
Its just crank flex so need somthing stiffer, think the saint should do the trick.0
