I'd appreciate some advice / comment from anyone who has used a Charge Spoon leather saddle for MTB . . .

I'm thinking of buying one, of course, but wondering how durable the leather will be compared to the cheaper plastic covered version:

Long term wear & tear from normal use, including wet weather?
Resisting rips etc. from crashes?
How does it feels in hot weather?

My Carrera saddle gets hot, sweaty and a bit uncomfortable in summer so I'm looking for something that will help to keep my @rse cool. I ride mainly XC, but in all conditions. This saddle will be for riding, not for bling.

Having used leather, do you think it's worth the extra cost and care?
Would you do it again . . . ? :)
My abundant supply of MTFU is reserved for use in dry, sunny conditions.

Can't fault them at all. They wear well, breath due to the leather and scuff like shoes when crashed. Bit of boot polish to cover the marks and care leather cleaner to keep it supple.

Have a look at the SDG bel air or gusset r series saddle, similar in price (if not cheaper) and IMO more comfortable, no issues with wear either having doen loads of commuting and trail miles :)

    Thank you both

Craig - glad to hear that. Leather is good stuff.

Mark - the Gusset R looks like it's only available in synth . . is there also a leather version?

I have the Spoon on both my mtbs, my bottom loves it. One is leather and one is synthetic and if I'm being absolutely honest, I'd be pushed to notice any difference between them (apart from £20).

I can see that a leather-covered saddle might "mould" itself to you more, but I find the synthetic Spoon really comfy anyway. I can't really see how leather stretched over synthetic padding and a nylon hull is supposed to enable your bum to "breathe" to any noticeably greater extent. An actual leather saddle (Brooks, etc) is a different matter perhaps?
