Japanese/Italian compatibility.
I've read somewhere (old magazine, can't find it...) that 10 speed Campagnolo Ergoshifters have the right amount of cable pull to function with 8 speed Shimano derailleurs and cassettes....
Is anyone using this kind of setup?
Has anyone else heard of it being done successfully?
I'd like to convert my hybrid workhorse to drop 'bars, and Campagnolo Mirage/Xenon shifters would apparently be the cheapest way to do this.
LBS wasn't much help. He doesn't speak much English, and I don't speak much Welsh...

Leonard Zinn has a more detailed write up in his book "Zinn and the Art of Road Bike Maintenance".0 -
I've done it. 10 speed Veloce ergos shifting a Tiagra mech with an 8 speed cassette.
It worked perfectly.0 -
