Is it possible for a competent home mechanic to service formula brakes? I am in need of changing the seals on a lever seal of a R1, it is the seal on the back side of the lever that contacts the handle bar. If it is is it possible to buy the tool to remove this cap as it would appear to be bespoke tool that is needed.

Why do you need to do this? the only reason i ask is that during a recent bleed of my Oro's a found that Dot fluid was leaking from a small hole in the clamp are underneath the lever. The brake seemed to work as normal tho so i thought nothing more of it but i'm now wondering whether there is something wrong with the brake because thinking about it the dot fluid that came out was a right state - small particulates and very opaque.

I need to do it as one of the seals in the lever is leaking oil.

i have a set of r1's also and i think that there was a fault with a batch of them where the fluid was leaking from the seal behind the lever :(

have a look at other forums just to confrim if it is the same issue

i think propel bike are the contact in the uk for formula warranty issues

I have spoken to propel and they have been really helpful. The brakes are winging the way back to them and should be with them in the morning :D
