I currently use your bog standard Look pedals on my road bike. They seem okay but they spin a bit freely when I am setting off at traffic lights so its difficult to get into them. I have also had some painful spots on the sole of my foot on longer rides.

As a teenager 18 years ago I used Shimano 105 pedals and they worked well.

There are some good deals on Shimano 105 and Ultegra pedals and they seem cheaper than Look pedals.

Are Look pedals generally more expensive?

Would I benefit from moving to Shimano pedals and if so any major advantages on ultegra vs. 105 apart from weight?

thanks

If you're getting 'hot spots' on your feet, suggest that you look at your shoes, not your pedals. The 105 pedals you used many years ago were in fact a design licensed by Look.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • Thanks Monty, been thinking about getting inserts in my shoes,

The Shimano pedals seem to have a wider foot area which may help.
