Can reba's take a battering

I've been looking to upgrade my fork for a while now and have been pretty well set on a reba. I gather i'm not wrong to say that a reba is a short travel revelation and the revelation is a lighter pike...? (correct me if i'm wrong!!?!)

I generally ride XC but have discovered a taste for a touch of dirt jumping of late. My current fork (suntour radon) seems seriously apposed to this kind of tourture.

I'm hoping someone may know if i'd be chucking my money down the drain with a reba? I'm happy it'll serve me more than well for XC but could it hack it on som heavy landings...?

Any advice would be great..!!!

Cheers

chris

The reba is a lighter, racier, shorter travel fork than the rev, designed for XC riding/racing... they're fairly tough though too, they'll be able to handle most trail centre routes.

Yeah, in a cross country sense, they're nails. I had a pair fitted to my old hardtail and was blown away by the performance and stiffness. I'd much rather have them than a fox or a Marzocchi. For dirt jumping, I'd go with a pike or an argyle. I know a few 4x racers who have used Reba's for racing and training for a couple of seasons so it's more in the XC-trail camp than the XC-race one.
I had to beat them to death with their own shoes...

Aye, i know some people who have used rebas for street and dirt jumping, i think as long as you don't abuse it too much, it should be fine

Although not used for dirt jumping, my rebas (100mm flavor) take a battering regularly in the Peaks most weekends - no ill affects I don't think! :)

I've got the Reba's on my HT set up to 120mm. I do plenty of trail riding on them and lets just say i'm not a delicate rider, I land pretty heavy from everything! Forx have coped with everythign I've thrown at them.
My mate also had a pair on his Boardman Pro HT, he took that dirt jumping a few times and even for a couple of DH sessions, ok he only weighs about 9 stone but they aint dead... :?

Well mine didn't. Lasted a month before getting twisted. People have recommend that I go for a stronger fork following this but I think I just got unlucky with the Rebas after a somewhat akward 'incident' :?

if your fairly smooth at dirt jumping and don't do anything too massive, they should be ok, but i'd get u turn revelations (race or team) with maxle, and u turn them down to 110mm, then they should be good for xc and a bit of dj, or get pikes- similar to revs, just heavier and stronger.
