I went for the day today, quite enjoyed it, saw a mahoosive face plant from a dirt jumper attempting a 720. Got a stonking tan too!

There was a fair bit to look at, some interesting kit like the new shimano gear, quite a few bike brands there too. Managed to pick up a few bargains, like a kaboom chain cleaning kit, which has a mechanical cleaner, bike cleaner, degreaser, lube etc, for 15 squids.

Oh and lots of fit laydee's too!

Just so bloody far. I mean KENT? They may as well have held it in the outer Hebrides.

i went to my uncles wedding and it was ace, properly good get together and saw loads of family for the first time in aaaaages.

saw loads of bike racked cars leaving kent this afternon as i was returning from stokesville, loads of trafic as they came out of the dartford crossing as some clever individual had driven straight off the side of the m25 and down a bank. the emergency services figured the best thing to do, even though there were no vehcles blocking the road (they were all down the embankment) was to close 2 lanes with a fire truck, websters!!

People down south can say exactly the same when it's somewhere up north.

mrfmilo, that's a fair argument, and I agree with it. Somewhere central would be a much more betterer option.

hey, sheepsteeth We could have used the BR Live event to round up all the hardtail riders and execute them publicly. And singlespeed rigid riders fuelled by smug.

Yeah, just makes it fair to have it down here once it a while.

But the one time it's here I miss it

would have been the perfect public forum for such an event.

i would have made them all sit cross legged with sawn-offs under their chins, then as soon as the guest of honour(gazza of course) turned up with some chicken, we would fire multiple tazers at the HT riders until they shot themselves to death

the single speeders would kill themselves with their own smug sense of satisfaction which is more powerful than any shotgun, sawn-off or other wise and between 16 and 32 times more powerful than any tazer.

Yeah A long haul, but well worth the effort, end of the day, wherever you have it someones gonna be further away than last time, perhaps a tour of venues would help year to year

Worst venue possible. Southerners just cannot drive which is essentially the problem with the M25. Lets hope its somewhere more easily accessible next year

I don't like to moan but Donnington park would have been a much better venue IMO, I don't mnd travelling for events like this, but there are limits. Hope all those who made the journey had a good weekend though :)

To be fair, they couldn't get Donnington though as it was supposed to be having the british grand prix, whether the subsequent problems donnington has had meaning it won't be hosting it in the future alters that then changes things for subsequent BRL's we shall see, personally, yeah its a slog to get there, but I had a great time so it was worth it

It was great, thanks for asking. BLOODY HOT though. Don't think it dropped below 30 at all on Friday night into Sat.

So much to do during the day, but lacking a bit in entertainment on a night. Would have been nice to see some more floodlit stunt displays and stuff. The place just seemed to die a death after about 10pm (apart from the campsite, and the night-time bombing runs).

The demo loops were good, but on Sun afternoon, they were getting a bit too crowded with little kids on jump bikes standing in the middle of the trails

The Hot-laps / Dirt Crits course was fantastic fun too.

AND I even did a demo of a road bike

Brilliant weekend though, and possibly the best value for money I've ever seen.

    Bring on next year!!! :D

Yeah definitely a great weekend! Feck I have chaffing issues though
I'm looking at finance options for a Cube that I like. I officially got the slowest time on the Mountain Bike Hot Laps 8) so won't be doing that again, and will spend more time test riding more bikes. I've ridden loads in the last two days and learnt quite a bit.

And feck me some of the woman were smokin hot!
It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

Yep, that was annoying, and why people though that the point in the trails where it split into jumpy bit or north-shore was a good place to stop and chat god knows. And riding backwards on a loop that only took 5mins to get around.... still when it was clear it was good fun!

Brands Hatch a bad venue? Out of the way? I don't hear all the BSB supporters moaning, not when it's there or any other track in the country. If you love bikes and want to go to the show's, where they choose to hold it shouldn't matter. Lots of things come into it... Not just someone saying "Oooh I think we'll have it there this year, just for a change"

    That is all.

It's not exactly central is it. Anyone not in that specific corner of the UK is going to have to negotiate the M25 to get there, which instantly makes it a PITA..

How many suitable venues ARE central?

You need somewhere outside and big enough to have everything BRL had....

Perhaps somewhere like Rockingham or Santa Pod? Although most race tracks are in use all summer which doesn't help.

If the venue's not tooo far out of the way, I may attend next year.
