Can you buy SPD to platform converters?

My bike is fitting with Shimano SPD pedal, but I want to know if it is possible to buy some sort of adapter which could fit into it to convert it into a platform pedal? I want to keep the SPD pedals for road cycling but when I'm taking my bike on a camping trips I don't want to have to take cycling shoes or change the pedals.

You can get plastic platforms that will clip into place on one side. These often come with a new bike and are usually discarded either in the shop or by the purchaser. Try asking around local bike shops, you may get them for nothing or cheap. If that fails and you need some, send me a pm

You can get pedals that are flat on one side and SPD on the other. I have them on my single speed. They can be a bit tricker to clip into but beat swapping pedals.

yes you can. they clip into the SPD parts. No idea if you can put two onto each pedal but you can at least have a one sided flat pedal

I wouldn't trust those too much. I thought the ones that come with the bike are meant for trying it out around the carpark etc.
    Flimsy and lousy grip.
Changing pedals takes two minutes, and not a bad idea to loosen them off regularly anyway - see the number of people on here regularly with stuck pedals.

I used them when i take the dog out on my bike after a incident wearing my SPD's, never had a problem with grip with the plastic platforms. Thats with wearing off road running shoes,

I think the main reason these come with the pedals is to get round any must-have-reflector laws.

Notheless, I've used them for years on my hack bike and they are absolutely fine. Perfectly robust enough for the day-to-day.
