hi, i,ve got a 07 giant fcr2 and was thinking of fitting drop handlebars, is it any easy enough job to do yourself including obviously the levers. Or would it be cheaper to buy a new racer, i just wanted to use it as a winter bike

Would I be right in thinking that the FCR doesn't have caliper brakes, like the SCR does? If so, you might have a bit of trouble getting them to work with the STI shifters. Otherwise, there shouldn't be any problem converting it to a road bike.

    Cheers

ive got a 2006 FCR2 and as well as the V brakes not being compatible with drop bars mines got MTB style trigger shifters which might also be incompatible with drop bars, to get a lower riding position on mine i turned the handlebar bar stem upside down and put it on top of the headset with the spacers on top of the stem, that lowers it so its roughly the same hand position as it would be riding on the hoods with drop bars, perhaps a bit lower, if your intent on having drop bars and its only a winter bike it might be better to buy a cheap road bike than convert the FCR.
