Hi All, I'm planning stopping for lunch en route to the south of France with the wife, which completely accidentally  , will coincide with the Tour heading over the Rhone Alpes en route to Station des Rousses.

Question: How long before the caravan arrives do they close the roads and how soon after the last support car passes do they reopen? It's a fairly remote area, and there aren't that many roads to choose from...

Road they're racing on is usually closed from early morning to vehicles. Cyclists are still allowed through right up to the caravan coming through. Gendarmes will tell you when you're required to pull over. Roads reopen pretty much immediately after race passes with predictable traffic chaos. So get there early or ride in on closed roads basically.
