FR bolt

quick question...

Just bought a front derailleur off ebay - unused as taken off a new bike. It's arrived in the condition as described, but without the bolt to attach the clamp to the frame. I would have expected this to be included ... am I right in this or is there any apparent reason why it might not have been sent, other than being forgotten? I've looked at the photo again and I can't see it there.

It's part of the mech and if absent, should have been highlighted in the description. Get the seller to supply it or get a refund and then put neutral or neg for time wasting.

Thanks - I just hope they're not going to say "it wasn't in the photo, so you shouldn't have expected it." It's shown with the clamp open in the ad, but there was nothing to suggest it wouldn't be included.

If they do, I would start a dispute, although getting a spare bolt from your LBS might be free and less hassle ! I would then defo leave a negative as we need to punish as many chav sellers as possible on ebay.

Cheers - I've just sent a polite request off.

I'll see what happens next - it's not something that's worth making a big fuss about but is a bit irritating.

They need neg or they will do it to someone else. That's the entire point of the feedback system. If we don't religiously do it, things will not improve.

I totally agree, although the optimist in me hopes it's just an oversight ...

Quick update: The seller has responded saying that he didn't think the bolt came as standard as he upgraded the bike and didn't get a bolt with the new FD. The upside is that he has offered to post a bolt to me. I'm happy with that, as I really didn't want to get involved in a dispute over something so small (but also essential).

They are usually 15mm M5 bolts with a 4mm hex head.
