I was thinking of putting a campag crank on my new bike ( :D ), because shimano cranks are

*UGLY*

Will it work?

(What I'm asking is, are the chainwheels the same distance apart for campag and Shimano -> the shimano indexing on the sti will still work.)

(I'm thinking of a 130/74 road triple. So that's the competition triple with the square-taper bb.)

(but it does look *SO* much better than shimano)

thanks for any help folks

regards

The spacing is not quite the same but I know people who have used Campy cranksets with Shimano mechs/shifters. Some discussion here:

    Not a definite answer either.

BTW, Campy uses 135mm BCD with 74mm for the granny.

works fine. My partner has a Record triple (50-40-30) 10 speed and all the rest is Ultegra 6600.

    Thanks for the responses folks.

Weejie - yes of course 135. suprised that the min middle chain wheel size is 39 for both Campy + Shimano. But there it is.

Mrushton - the ctc forum is certainly not unanimous. But nothing beats personal recommendation. Thanks.

I'm gonna give it a go.

    Pictures to follow...

Chainsets are independant of groupsets, anything will work. If they didn't Stronglight and TA would have gone out of business years ago.
