Anyone got any preferences? They all look the same to me!
Want something around 690mm with 2" rise maybe more? BUT i don't want much/any backsweep as it hurts my wrists
circa. £30?

The FSA Maximus bars from On One are very good especially for 15 quid

Honestly, they don't feel to different in weight to my Pro Atherton DH bars and they are about as light as alloy bars get, around 300 grammes.
For 15 quid, you could spend the extra 15 on something else that saves more weight0 -
I know but there isn't anything else I want to change lol!
I have easton monkeylight cnt atm, but I want to try something stiffer without having too much additional weight!0 -
Fair enough.
I know the Easton EA50 is very good and stiff as well. Looked at that.
I have ridden one of the lower rise versions and it feels just right0 -
Sorry to Hijack your thread but I'm also looking for some wider risers than the stock one's that came on my bike and for £15 quid those FSA's look superb but I just wonder as a complete noob if you could help me out?! Is 31.8mm larger than normal for the centre where it clamps on?! For the minute I'd rather not have to change my stem but it looks very fat in the picture. I have no idea what my stem is but the bike is a Merida Matts 40D and so far as I can tell the centre of the handlebar looks the same diameter as the centre of every handlebar I've ever looked at! lol, useless I know. But I'm guessing there's a standard?! Any help would be appreciated, I'd like to get those ordered!0

EA50s for my money.
The cheap/light/strong adage stands here though, the Eastons forego the light part!0 -

On your current bars, do they bulge in the middle or are the bars the same diamater across the whole bar?0 -
I think theyre the same, I'm not home at the minute else I'd go look at the bars.
I just went on the Merida site and had a look at the specs for my bike (matts 40d) and it says it has "XM Speed CEN Rise" bars. Struggling to find info though. They seem to just be the basic bars that every new bike has on them, found a spec sheet for a specialised which has them paired with a 31.8mm stem, but would that be the diameter of the clamp or the rise of the stem?! I'm confused!!0 -
That would be the clamp.
What you could do is buy them and if they don't fit, get a new stem as well. There are some very cheap, very good stems out there0 -
Done!! Thankyou!! Ordered and ordered some nice grips off Chain reaction too! Any advice then on one of these cheap good stems should mine not fit? Thanks again, much appreciated!!0

Depending on what length, Exotic stems ae good
Here is one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/eXotic-3D-Forged-Al-2014-T6-Stem-80mm-Oversize-31.8_W0QQitemZ190401949580QQcmdZViewItem?rvr_id=&rvr_id=&cguid=b76a971f1280a0e20490cbf0feae23470 -
Exotic Scandium. Strongest you will get for the money.0

FSA Gravity Lite- 680mm wide, 260 grams, £20. http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/HBFSGL25/fs ... -handlebar has some backsweep, but you can rotate them upwards for less0
-
I find my low rise EA70s perfect:plenty stif enough and nice and wideI assume this is French petrol - be careful in reverse - the car will retreat rapidly at the least provocation.0
