I am looking for a new fork to finish upgrading my sugar 3, but I can't find out what the steering tube length should be. I believe the width is 1 1/8. If anyone has any information on this it would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Gov

It'll vary by frame size, take the old fork out and measure it ideally. It won't be long, I don't recall them having long headtubes. If you don't want to take the old fork out you can just measure from the top of the crown to the headset top cap, that'll give you a vague idea. Probably around 200mm-ish.
  • Thanks and please forgive my ignorance. The frame is 19"

Hard to guess like I say, but bikes of that ilk and age usually had short head tubes, so probably around 200mm, it's very easy to measure, and if you get a longer one you can always cut it down.

the steerer tube length will depend on many things for example the headset, any spacers and the stem. not including the actual length of your head tube.

so get the tape measure out and read up what the stack heights are of the bit you want to use and sorted you know what length of steerer tube you must have a minimum when buying a used fork.
