Hi All,

This website has been of great use to me over the last few days but I have decided to see if I can get some specific advice before parting with my £1500! :)

This will be the first mountain bike I've had since I was 12 and I have found so much choice I am totally confused!
I have found the following bikes which interest me from Evans, any advice on my choices would be greatly apperciated and any better recommedations or bikes I may have missed out on.
The Commencal Meta seems to interest me the most due to the amazing review it got and being a 2009 it looked like I would get a lot for my money.
1. Commencal Meta 5.5 2009
2. Scott Scale 40 2010
3. GT Zaskar Expert 2010
4. Lapierre X Control 310 2010
5. Cannondale RZ One20 4 2010
6. BMC Trailfox TF02 2009
7. Mondraker Podium Pro 2010
8. Bianchi Pulse 9000 2010
Many Thanks in advance for the replies.
Dan

Edit: Forgot to mention I will be using the bike for various off road trips starting with easy forests and moving up to more complex, rough rocky places, no road use at all.

I don't really have experience of these bikes but from what I've heard and read is 2009 commies and new lapierres are prone to snapping frames do a search on here for more info. I also believe the gt gets great reviews. Have a look at the mondraker factor and also the giant reign. I to was in your position last month a setteled on the giant. Got it from pedalon which sweetened the deal with about £300 worth of extras for free.

    Thanks for the reply bones.

After a day of researching i'm quite keen on the Specialized Pitch Pro 2010

    http://www.specialized.com/gb/en/bc/SBC ... temId=9332

Seem's to be an amazingly light all mountain bike at a decent price, I know the 2009 got an amazing review on here so is there any reasons I shouldn't get this like Bones mentioned about the Commencal?

How does this compare to the Giant Trance X1?

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Quite a varied list of bikes there. Do you want a full sus or a hardtail? Do you want an agile, strong climber or a tougher, confidence inspiring descender? Is light weight or strength more important? (Bear in mind all mountain bikes are tough by definition). Unless you're a particularly hard rider or want to ride big, I think there's more suitable options than the Pitch and Reign.

Thanks for the advice llama, unfortuntately I already ordered a Specialized Enduro Comp, overshooting my budget by 25% and probably a bike that's a bit overkill for me :D but i'm quite happy with it despite the contreversial looks! I'm sure eventually i'll move on to stuff that will put it to good use :)

If you're happy on it then it's the right bike mate. Enjoy it! :D
