bike replacement choice help?

Hello,

i have been riding on my spec hardrock now for 2 years and would like an better bike to advance my skills and fitness but im unsure what to get i have around 1000 pound but want summit special.

Any ideas n pictures would be helpful thanks alot...

I would prefer a hardtail as i feel 1000 would not get a decent full suspenstion with lock off. what do you think.
