Anyone know if this is a rebadged far east frame? I'm sure it is but can't find it. Am trying to help out a friend

as i understand it (and i've just bought a tempo so i hope i am right...) they are specifically manufactured for moda to their geometries and spec and not a rebadged generic frame.
i think they are still manufactured in the far east though, but i might be wrong on that. they are certainly designed and assembled in the uk0 -
Cheers ris,
That's good to know. The frame does look different to most of the rebadged frames knocking around. It's good to know you're getting a bespoke frameset.0 -
Hi,
I'm just saving up to buy this bike!
I've seen it in the flesh (not ridden tho) and it's a great looking bike, well specced and light in my humble but 'relatively' bike uneducated view..as far as i'm aware the frame is made out in the far east as you say but then the bike is hand constructed in the UK - you can get more detail from www.eurobike.uk.com
I'd love to see a review somewhere on this bike, nothing yet but the guys from Moda told me that one of the mags has it on test at the moment, not sure who though...??
Their Finale version got a good review in the Bike of Year 2010 from Cycling plus but was £50/£100 over their £2500 limit so it got an 8/10 instead of higher.
Any knowledgable feedback on this bike would be greatly appreciated...
cheers0 -
Ps Just realised 'Ris' says he bought the tempo...
if my budget doesn't quite stretch to the stretto whats your initial thoughts on the Tempo, you pleased with it? ideally i want to do the carbon thing but this also looks well specced for the money..0 -
sadly i've not seen a review of the stretto around - there was a brief review of the tempo in cycling weekly about a month ago in their first look section, and it was fairly favourable.
i am enjoying the tempo but i am expereincing a bit of a learning curve with it as there are a few differences between it and my spesh allez. gearing, handling etc are different enough to keep me on my toes, and i've only had it a couple of weeks so my views might change.
the ac victory wheels seem good, it handles well and resonds well when the power is put down, particularly on hills. certainly more lively than the allez!
i did try and convince myself that i could maybe find the money for a stretto but i just couldn't. they do look nice bikes. i did ring a few shops and talk to eurobike and the retailers about the bikes try and get a feel for what they were like before i bought. while not impartial they are better than nothing.0 -
I have owned a Moda Stretto for a few months now and I love it!
I had a learning curve when switching from Shimano to SRAM, but now I have the hang of the changes this is a distant memory. The frame is very light and direct, compared to my Spec Tarmac before it, it feels so assured going into fast corners.
The American Classic wheels are a real surprise too, as I didn't know much about the brand before buying. They are excellent!
For a race geometry frame it is comfortable, I did a 5 hour ride in Wales at the weekend and it was comfortable for the entire thing.
I would highly recommend the Stretto to anyone, and I hope that the Moda brand grows into a real contender in the future as it's great to see a British brand with such great bikes on offer.
p.s. I purchased mine from the guys at Epic Cycles http://www.epic-cycles.co.uk, who were absolutely brilliant! Nothing was too much trouble and the time they spent with me from start to finish was excellent, well worth the trip!0 -
I've also got a stretto full ultegra and is spot on, very comfy and light, just had to change the saddle to my spesh alias, I'm well pleased I bought it, you can't get that spec for the price.0

Hi,
Has any of the moda owners had any issues with the build etc.
I was tempted to get one until one of the shops I was talking to said that they were going to stop supplying them as they'd had some quality issues.0 -
not had any issues with my tempo (touch wood). it's well cared for but gets used a fair bit, and i've swapped wheels out a number of times on it so there are the inevitable paint chips around the dropouts and stays. no cracks or splits or anything with the frame or forks.
wheels have held up very well, no problems there (apart from my inability at fitting gp4000s to the ac rims - total pig of a job). bike still rides well and my initial learning curve has been got over. i'm going back to the spesh for the winter and suspect that i'll be looking forward to getting back on the moda when spring comes.0
