I ordered from my local bike shop Tricross 10 yesterday.

I am 6'1" and the man in the shop said that 56cm frame would be fine.

Would this be right?

You'll only really know when you ride it...

  • According to the sizing chart in the back of the Speccy 2010 brochure (I happen to have one on my desk!) says:

    56cm 5'9" - 6'
    58cm 6' - 6'3"

But as the previous poster says, you'll need to get on it and ride to be sure.

Hard to say without knowing your leg length, torso length and arm length... but gut feeling is that may be a tad small.

Anyway - if he's ordered it in and it is too small, he can just go and order you in a 58, right?!

Just make sure you have a proper ride on it before you hand over the cash.

Cross bikes size up slightly differently from road bikes, becuase the BB hight is higher.

I'm 6'1 and ride a 56cm cross bikes, but in the past before I 'saw the light' rode 58cm road bikes. I tried a Tri-cross last year and although I did'nt buy one i'd have said the 56cm would have been the one to go for. I tried a Ridley Cross bike once, and needed a 54cm! (really weird sizing)

In the end it all depends on your body proportions, and how you like your bike. I personally would rather go for a smaller frame, and if needs be fit a slightly longer stem than have a frame too big.

Try the 56cm, when the shop get it. If you need a different stem etc...get it sorted before you leave the shop.

I'm a tad under 6'3'' and ride a 61cm Tricross which is fine for me - I do however have long legs and saddle height is at 86.6cm from the BB. Would have thought the 56cm may be a little samll, but as said above only trying the bike will tell.

Just to confuse things even more...

I'm a shade over 6'1'' and ride a 54cm frame Tricross. I was measured by the LBS guy before I bought. I have a longish back and short legs, relative to my height. The bike fits be fine; I've had it for 18 months and find it comfortable. I get very few aches and pains. Best thing to do is try and get a test ride.
