Bent Crank Arm - replacement?

So yesterday, I completely screwed up going round a roundabout - went too fast for my abilities, hit the kerb and went flying across the verge. As a result, it looks like the left hand crank arm has been bent and will need replacing. Is it possible to buy just the crank arm, or will I need to buy a whole new crank set? The crank set in question is an FSA Vero compact 50/34.

Thanks,

Dave.

It may be possible to get a new crank arm (but difficult and likely expensive) - IMHO I'd take this as an upgrade opportunity.

With an impact of sufficient force to bend the crank arm, I'd also check-over the bottom bracket. I hope your landing was softer than your bikes.

Thanks :). I had a feeling it could be a good time to do an upgrade ;). I'm going to check the bike later today to make sure the frame and forks are OK as well. What should I look for when checking the bottom bracket?

Any suggestions for a chainset upgrade? The derailleurs are both Tiagra, and the sprocket is a SRAM PG950, shifters are Sora.

My landing wasn't too bad, just a deep cut on my elbow - fortunately, I landed on the verge, so it was mostly grass. I don't think I hit my head, as there's no scratches on my helmet, but it's convinced me that I'll be wearing one every ride!

The left crank looks bent anyway. Post a pic of it before you replace it !

Even allowing for it to be slightly bent, there's definitely something out of alignment as when pedalling, my left foot was all over the place (I'm using SPDs). I've taken it in to the LBS so they can give it a thorough look over.

i used to have a bike with fsa vero cranks, got hit by a car and remarkably the only real damage was a bent crank, with amazing luck i didn't come off the bike or get hurt

the vero seems to be an oem part, so limited availability

i got a generic crank from cycle surgery for a tenner, but it was never a good crankset and i'd already had a ring buckle on me, so i decided to change it

i put an old shimano 105 double on (and new bb), far better shifting, felt easier to pedal, and much lighter

definitely go for an upgrade if you can

I had a very similar problem, I made a visit to my LBS and I was able to replace from their odd bits box - gratis.
