A quick ask to see if anyone knows of a LBS in South London/Kent where I can be measured for a new road saddle.
I have heard about the service from Specialized, but their nearest concept store is a good few miles away.
Do they offer this in the bigger chain shops like Evans or Cycle Surgery?
Having said all that, the way my sit bones feel right now, i'd be happy to walk to Ruislip for a bit of comfort ....
Thanks.

Sorry, can't answer your query about Evans or Cycle Surgery.
However, here's something I came across only yesterday from another forum:You can measure your own sit bones. Take a string, squat and/or lay on your back with your legs over your head, feel for your sit bones, stretch the string from one sit bone to the other sit bone (measuring the outer edge of each). Take that measured distance and that is the saddle width you need. There really isn't any magic to the whole thing.
BTW, I just happen to be going to Ruislip tomorrow for a BG Fit session. It will be interesting to see how effective it is.There's no such thing as too old.0 -
And just hope no-one walks in while it looks like you're retrieving string from where the sun doesn't shine!

I measured my butt yesterday by sitting on some tinfoil on top of some memory foam.
It`s no good just measuring it though, you are going to need this chart.

Thanks for the replies.
Just off to the shops for some string, some tin foil and maybe some foam.

RussellO Having had it done  it was no more than sitting on some slowly deformable foam that left the dents of your butt behind in it long enough for someone to measure the distance between them. TBH why the assistant couldn't have worked out from my body size I'd need a large saddle I dunno
Good luck with the string and tinfoil.0 -
To be fair you can`t really tell where the sit bones are just by the size of the tush, I was surprised that mine were only just over 100mm apart and i`ve got quite a big butt.Smarter than the average bear.0
