Hi Forum

I am considering purchasing a SRAM Red groupset however if I browse around the web there appear to be different versions. What is the difference between the 2010 version and the previous incarnations?

Thanks in advance

    ahhhhhhhhhhhh

    SRAM red is 1090

the 2nd option is a bargain version of red, with some force (1070) chucked in to reduce the price. The 2nd option isn't all red

You can either buy FULL red (all bits are red, chain etc,) or mostly red with cheaper items like the non ceramic BB to make the gruppo cheaper.

Most sram stuff is mixable accross the ranges.

    mke sense?

I use a mix of Red and Force (2010). The Force stuff is almost as good as Red. In most cases about 98% as good.

The ceramic BB is a waste if you ask me. Also forget the Red chain and cassettes - and even the front mech. Most of the Pros use the Force stuff for those items anyway!

i like the cassette, whats wrong with it??? I haven't heard of the pros prefering the force?

The pros do use a steel front mech cage (hybrid of red mech, with force cage on the front).

The red chain (1090) is much better than the force 1070 for all but durability. It is the 1090R with the cut outs to avoid as it is light, but wont last. There are 2 red chains, therefore.

Red all the way for me.
