AM looking at upgrading my Ultegra SL levers for the new 6700 version. Has anybody done this before and does it work out ok. Or is it even worth my while.

Don't bother. Unless your Sl levers are knackered, the only thing you will gain is hidden cables.

If your dying to spend some money, spend it on some other bling.

    I'd disagree!!
I upgraded to the new 6700 Ultegra from 5600 105.Yes you get hidden cables but you also get redesigned gear levers. Its a shorter throw of the lever now.
Also I think the braking is so much beter, well it is on canti brakes.
You will need to change your front mech as its meant to be a slightly different cable pull.Shimano do say they will work with older mechs but not in an "A" quality shift.
The lever shape is so nice too, they almost make me want to upgrade my Centaur groupset

+1 on the front mech but also, according the Shimano the brakes work on a different ratio - so you're supposed to match the brakes with either 6700 or 7900. I use SL's and am very happy with them.
