sora to ultegra sl

i would like to replace my compact sora for an ultegra compact,the sora is 9 speed and the
ultegra is 10 .will it work? Or is there any other lighter compact i could use?
Any advice would be helpful, cheers

    I would think that you'd need to weigh up the benefits of upgrading so far on your chainset when the rest of the drivetrain on your bike is presumably not up to Ultegra standard.

    You can get a compact Tiagra chainset for £43.46 delivered from Ribble and I would have thought this would be a decent upgrade at a much lower price.
