I'm looking for a small saddle bag to put my tackle in, can anyone recommend a good one or do you guys generally put everything into your jersey pockets....
At the moment I carry a spare inner tube, pump & puncture kit in my jersey pockets.

Thanks.

I used to have a scicon bag, a 230 I think it was. This is an ok solution if you only have need of a tube, co2 pump, levers and a multitool. It comes with a handy clamp system for the rails of your saddle too.

These days these things just go in my pockets and I take out a slightly larger topeak bag for those longer rides, when pockets are in use for food, gels and a packable water/ windproof jacket.

I use the Medium one which has a zip in the middle with which you can make it a Small. Handy for different lengths of rides.

They're also great for scuffing up the inside leg on your shorts.

I've got the medium Topeak but with the clip and have no probs with shorts rubbing etc. Mine is just long enough for the 15mm spanner I haven't got round to taking out when it is on the Allez.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

I've got this one aswell. Pack it the same as there's not much room for anything else in there but have squeezed a 2nd co2 cannister in.
Clever mounting system but it did break on mine and free replacement. The bag does feel quite loosely fastened to the bike all over.
Best looking saddle bag (if any can actually look good) but not the best performer.

Backpack (Camelbak when off-road bikes or long road rides), small under-saddle bag for most road rides. On one bike I use the small Topeak (might be called a mini, can't remember), it has served me well over the years. Both my road bikes have Fizik Arione saddles and on my best bike the saddle is the integrated design i.e. the Fizik badge pops out and the Fizik saddle bag clips into the space. It's a neat idea and as it's not holding on to the seat tube you would think it would swing but instead it's quiet and I don't hear any rattle which you sometimes can with bags.

I usually pack with inner tube, tyre levers, multi-tool, spare 2032v battery (computer sensor or HR chest strap go at an inconvenient time), small bag of £1 coins and £5 note (for cake stop/emergencies), spare rim tape (in case puncture caused by damaged rim tape). Mobile, key and cleat covers then in jersey pockets. I have not noticed saddle rub with either the Topeak or the Fizik, the latter clearly well back from the inner thighs in any case.

That Fizik bag looks sweet, but will it only work with Fizik saddles? When I was covering the Tour last year I bought a similar saddlebag in Barcelona - a Scicon. The last time I saw it was in the Alps when it dropped off at 55mph on a descent.

I've got one of these too.

Good for spare tube, multi-tool, self-adhesive patches, keys and mobile phone.

Now on my 2nd, with straps as shown. They also do one with a quick clip-on fixing but mine destroyed itself one day when I hit a pothole. Not repairable, so bag straight in bin!

+1 - the Alpine Bikes one I had on my road bike has done a bit of damage to my assoss shorts (not too serious)

That fizic one looks great - there's no seat post strap which I've identified is what's been damaging my shorts.

I use a belt bag which I believe is the ideal compromise:
    - you can use it with every bike
    - keeps stuff dry
    - plenty of space
    - no sweaty back (can be fitted with a water bladder)
    - more secure/drier than sweater pockets.

I have the spesh mini wedgie (!) which is fairly good but the straps are not well placed for my sadlle set up and it hangs down at the back like Deputy Dawg's face. It takes the bare essentials but there is no room for a second tube once a couple of CO2s are in (so I end up with the second tube on back pockets for longer runs.

My wife has the small Topeak one and that is pretty good (probably nicer than the Spesh) but it doesn't take two tubes and cannisters either.

Yes, that's correct. The bag clicks into the gap when you take the badge out.

You also need to make sure you have a saddle where the badge pops out I think they must have introduced it sometime afte roriginal Arione launch. See I also bought a slightly faded ex-dem Arione for £55 for my old bike so that I had no saddle differences. It has a fixed badge and won't take the bag, hence I just use the tradional Topeak on that instead. I wasn't complaining for £55 though.

FWIW the click is solid and when you attach the Fizik bag you make sure it distinctly clicks in or yes it's loose. This happened to me once and the bag did not come out but no point taking chances.

Yes, and you have to make sure you have a saddle wher ethe badge pops out as it's a cover for the holder. The bad clicks into it. By which I mean I also bought a slightly faded Arione for £55 for my old bike so that I had no saddle differences. The early ones had a fixed badge and won't take the bag, hence I just use the tradional Topeak on that instead.

I had a Fizik one about a year ago, the bracket lasted about three weeks before it snapped off.

I bought the medium, but the bracket won't fit the rails of my Cube seat. The fixing point for the bracket are right in line with the rails. I was going to just fix it on with cable ties, but I've been told that I can get a different bracket from Topeak. Hope so

I bought a little wedge one in, believe it or not, Tescos. It was about 6 quid and fits mini pump, repair kit, spare tube, phone and wallet, and if push came to shove probably could shove my rain mac in.
Little bracket screws on to the bottom of the saddle then a Velcro strap round the post and bobs your uncle, off you go…..

    That's what I did!
