Looking to buy a stumpy fsr comp tried small and med would it b better to buy the small and put a longer stem etc etc or buy the med and put a shorter stem etc etc

    usual advice is to buy the smaller model, but it depends how you like the bike set up. A longer stem will make the steering a bit slower, shorter stem can make it a bit twitchy. Will the shop change the stem and let you try it first ? It's a 5 minute job to swap them over

    Really tricky situation. If you happen to have a current bike that gives you a good position, then measure the effective top tube length and then compare to the effective top tube lengths of the fsr in both sizes, you might find that you're closer to one than the other. Or maybe you already have done this exercise ?

    It might even be better to look at another bike that fits you better

    Thank so much for the advice the longer stem on the small may b the best option don't really want to look at another bike as I am getting a cracking deal and will go home later and measure up my patriot to compare against stumpy many thanks all
