Hi, I'm new to road bikes and am about to buy one through my companies bike to work scheme. We have to get the bike through Wheelies, which doesn't have the best selection. I'm looking to spend around £800 and think I've narrowed it down to either the GT GTR Series 3 or the Specialized Allez Elite. Perhaps there's not a lot in it apart from individual rider preference, but any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

I would go for Specialised, purely due to me having a GT Aggressor XCR and emailed GT regarding something as simple as spare bar end plugs and they didn't even have the decency of replying......that was about 6 months ago.

I realised Trek isn't in this equation, however Trek on the other hand have answered ALL my emails (approx 50 in total) the same day on each occasion.

After Sales is one of the most important considerations when purchasing anything...

Also i like the look of the Specialised more...

If they are specced the same, it would boil down to the looks, and how each one rides to you.

I've got a GT Series 3 and I haven't had any problems with it. I would happily buy another one if I was looking for a bike in that price range.

Before you buy, check the geometry of the GT, as IME they have very long top tubes to seat tube height.
