Zipp 303 Clincher safety downhill
I am planning to use Zipp 303 clinchers on L'etape next month. 3 different people have cautioned me about the risk of punctures on long descents. they feel that as the rim heats that the rim tape moves and the spokjes are exposed leading to a puncture.
Does anyone have any thoughts or advise about this?

maybe velo plugs could stop it if the holes are standard size.

All alloy-rimmed carbon clinchers are notorious for this - the heat of the brakes is transmitted to the rim and the carbon fairing doesn't dissipate the heat, causing the inners to overheat and fail. Don't ride the brakes on long downhills and use a cloth, self-adhesive rim tape like Velox.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
