All a bit meh tonight... just watched some film called 'Splice' (OK - nothing great) then looked on TV and there's not much on of any worth.

Up at 6:00 tomorrow for my last week at current placement (Im a contractor/temp)... then after that who knows..... but this is going to be the week from hell as D-Day is Friday and the boss is a total nightmare (nice, but not when she's stressed out - total bitch)

So, what are you all up to toinight/the week ahead?

Yeh, bit bored myself. Fettled with the bike last night, so nothing more to do today.

Just watched some Prison Break, now watching an episode of "life after people" I recorded. Might just go to bed in a bit tbh.

Got some work on next week Mon-weds, and got the little 'uns sports day on Tues PM. Going to have a long weekend thurs-fri-sat-sun. hoping to rake out a new trail in the local woods. Maybe have a go at building a couple of small jumps and berms.

Hey Cheesy, no chance they're gonna offer you a full time position then?

Tonight I am ruing the fact I slipped up on a new pair of Juicy 7 brakes on Ebay, this is for the new 456 build. They sold for £82 with 203mm rotors

Right now I am fettling with a Dual CPU, Dual Core (PPC) PowerMac for a friend.
Doing a disk and OS upgrade, one of them ten minute jobs I've been putting off for days

Not too sure mate, nothing has officially been mentioned about me leaving next week. I am presuming I will be.... the agency dont have a clue either... and keep phoning me up for an update..

So I am not too sure.... also, I don't think I would want to work there full time TBH fella, but I will continue to do so as long as they want me there.... ;)

They phoned me with a decent placement for Earnst and Young.... however I was still contracted to finish this job so I had to let it go.

My agent is quite good, I speak to her once a week or so. (Im soooo Hollywood LOL)

Today has been one of the worst days of my entire life!

My mum and dad have decided to ban me from mtbing and since they are the only ones that can shuttle me anywhere I am kind of stuffed. I had just spent about 500 quid n my bike as well making it more Innerleithen friendly

So I am just in the middle of making my bike more street worthy, you know, tyres, single brake etc etc. no single speed though, still 18.

Hopefully I can get them to change their minds but they seem pretty set on it

Need more details on this ban!

    specifically, and HONESTLY, why?

(not "teenager" honesty, but real honesty)

Got a bit kicked out of school. I struggle in classes and stuff at school (basically everything at school I struggle with) and the school have been promising lots of support for me since 1st year and I have accepted it the whole time.

Only problem is, they haven't. I stopped going to school because of this and the school got the police involved even though it was their fault :x anyway, I started going back in again on the basis that they started giving me the support I needed. They didn't so I have stopped going since abnd they made it worse by doing the exact opposite of what they said they were going to do. This isn't the first time this has happened so I have lost all trust in them. I have just moved into 4th year and I stopped for the last time about 2 weeks ago.

That and Mum also thinks I am destroying my future with all the mtbing I do and that I could wreck my life with one false move so she has said no more lifts anywhere and the closest trails to me are a 30 minute drive away. Last time I tried it on a bike, it took me 4 hours and nearly killed me (the cars were horrendous and I am not the fittest) so no more mtbing

(Fine) That enough detail for you Mr CAT (happy  )

Mum and Dad knew all about it but took the schools side since they are the "experts" and refused to move me to another school and still are

I don't see how banning you from a normal, healthy activity will help you in this case.

God, you could have another social activity like hanging around the streets, taking drugs and being a hoodrat...

So start doing bad sh!t in my case then (I weigh 14 stone, used to be 15.5 a year ago when I wasn't mtbing)

They think I can still road ride on my newly built mtb that has cost me well over a grand  so that won't really work for them

    my advice would be:

wait for a day or so, make sure you're clear headed, you dont want your emotions over the issue clouding your own judgement.

then, split it into the 2 separate issues. and write down your arguments.

so you need to make yourself clear on howq mtb is a positive thing in your life, what you might be doing if you didnt have the hobby. try and stick to facts as much as possible, since your parents cant really disagree with facts, and make sure you adress whatever issues your parents have concerns with,

and make a separate argument about school. detailing how you feel about it, how you really want to do well but the school isnt giving you the support you need, which they promised to provide. etc.

if you arent comfy with talking to your parents about it, or are worried that you might let emotions take over and start an argument, just give them your written down arguments, then let them come to you after they have read your side.

If possible present possible solutions to any problems. like moving school, going to your school and making them make a plan of how they will help etc. On the MTB thing, see if you can suggest a comprimise. it's not nice to have to taxi people around when you get nothging from the trip. maybe suggest you riding there if they will pick you up or something.

I had an issue with my school too. in my first year there they recognised me as having "higher than average intelligence, and promised to give me things which were extra challenging, since i could sit through the first lesson talking to people and sleeping and still remember more than anyone else. I slept because i was bored, they never gave me an extra challenge. so now I'll never know how much I could have learnt if they had given me the challenge. make sure you sort it out because you don't want to start getting older and wonder what thigns COULD have been like.

I am with Chris on writing it down, I am terrible at remembering good points when it comes to arguements, i just get confused and forget to say anything of value.

As for the riding, it sounds like your parents "taxi" you about a fair amount if you are both involved in the trail faries and riding also. That's a pretty big ask IMO, surely you have natural riding around you? You live in the Broders right!?!

Just tell your rents you are going to chip in with some mates and buy a field bike or a mini moto.

    They will soon relent :)

    That would work.........

.....if I actually had a few mates

I'm not exactly the most social guy

Kiblams, I do have some natural riding around me but its pretty sh!t TBH. Nothing technical at all, just up a steep hill and down a slightly bumpy hill, thats it. I do it occasionally but it doesn't really fullfill my needs.

    Matthew won't work.

He's my stage manager usually at BYT and he hates hearing about some of the stuff I do on a bike and Mum knows that so think of another one

My cousin's friend was called Dorian but other names you could use that spell trouble are Gazza, Dazza, Paulie, Cracker, Nuttah and Gangsta.
