Hi.

I'm noticing that one on the back, and a couple on the front are twisting so they ain't facing the right way, I had a go at aligning them with the others but the spoke just pinged back, I thought I snapped the spoke but it seems fine, just seemed to release some tension, as a result it's slightly slacker than it was.

Twisting the spokes at the nipple ain't working, they're just twisting back again.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Will.

    Happened to me too.

Lubricate at the hub end. Hold the spoke blade with pliers, hold the nipple with a spoke key and turn both together. Worked fine.

Probably because the nipples are seized onto the ends of the steel spokes (no they're not stainless btw).

You need a "spoke alignment tool" in combination with a spoke wrench -

The mavic one looks a bit like this... or is it shimano? :? Anyway here's a pic:

Just don't go home with a spoke wrench of this type:

Or cut a slot in a block of wood. Does the same job

+1 cut a slot in a block of wood.
Turn the nipple with the key and the hub end of the spoke with the slotted wood at the same time.
Might also be worth using a small amount of loctite to stop the spokes turning in the future.

I'll give it a try, allthough I find a spanner to do a perfect job or turning the nipple, I'll have to get something for the other end.

redddraggon, why spam posting? You know very well I did not watch you.......

Are all brits such cheap skates?!

What happens when you own more than one wheelset with various spoke thicknesses... you go off looking for more bits of wood?

Not very convenient though is it, than having 4 on one little tool...

Now that's plain silly, we use the same piece of wood and go off looking for a different width saw 8)
