Hi there,

I'm in need of some help.

I've recently built a TT bike up with a mixture of new and second hand equipment.

I took it to the lbs to have the cables put on etc and took it home looking like everythnig was fine.

I've put it on the turbo and tried out the full range of gears, hand pedalling. Everythnig seems to be ok.

I get on the bike and pedal and there is an issue shifting into the middle of the 9 rear gears. Sometimes it slips in, sometimes goes straight past. Other times it goes straight in but as you try and put the 'power down' it slips every half revolution

Full build is below, please could you help identify any aeras that could be the cause of this issue.

I've tried adjusting the rear cable barrel but does not seem to make it any better or worse

Campagnolo 9 speed setup

New
Centaur chainset 53/39
9 speed campagnolo chain
cables inners and outers

second hand
Kinesis TT frame, rear mech hanger looks prestine and fully aligned
Kryserium wheels, campag freehub (was working fine on road bike)
veloce 9 speed 12-23 cassette (second hand but looks fine, not worn (are all spacers the same size?)
veloce 9 speed rear mech (appears to have full range of motion, sping and barrells all ok, original jockey wheels have seen better days)

I've not tried swapping parts yet but I have access to another cassette 13-28 and easton wheels on my road bike, running a 9 speed system) is it worth me swapping bits across ie wheels or cassette, jockey wheels etc) to see where the problem is sticking with?

Any advise would be gratefully received.

Cheers,

Dru.

New chain / old cassette; I'd be suspicious about the latter. You can't tell that a cassette is worn just by looking at it. Well, I can't anyway. Last one I had to replace (new chain skipping in some gears) looked identical to the new one that replaced it.

..so would it be a good quick test to swap out my rear wheel and cassette from my other bike which has no slipping issues and see if the problem remains or is better or worse

It's a simple test, Dru; that'd be my first course of action.
