I've just had some fitted but I was wondering if there is some sort of wear in period as mine are not turning that freely, they are smooth but not spinning like normal.

Is this your first use of external bearings ?
If so they are usually a bit stiff to turn compared to the old cartridge BB, only noticable when turning by hand though.

Can't say for sure, but I doubt they are meant to wear in. I'm pretty sure they are meant to be adjusted properly, which is what it sort of sounds like yours are not. Have it looked at if you're not sure. Lot of money there. I have no clue if you did this yourself or an LBS did it, but if yourself I would question your abilities and the same applies to a shop. People make mistakes. All of us. Then again you might be making more or the situation than it really is. There is no way for any of us to know how that crank arm feels when YOU spin it on a repair stand.

No not 1st use. I haven't got the full set up done yet (no chain fitted etc) so it was only spinning it by hand but they just didn't seem to rotate very much at all.

Hmm.. was the BB properly faced before installation? If there is any misalignment, it will cause drag.

Not used an FSA one, but I have just installed ceramic outboard bearings for my cranks, and they spin forever... WAAAAY better than the previous ones.
